Wow! the tamariki looked great in their costumes for Book Week.
Thank you Ms Maria-Soosai for taking these photos for us as I was away from school.

makes 'halves' with Playdough
In Room 2 at the moment we are learning about fractions.
We can tell when a shape is broken into equal or unequal parts.
We are learning that a half 1/2 means something is in 2 parts and the parts must be equal. (the same size).
Here are some photos of us making shapes and cutting them in half.

Measuring our feet!
As part of our Measurement Strand we are learning about length. On Friday we drew around our feet and measured how long they were using blocks and teddy bears.
Aquagym Swimming
For their lesson on Thursday, the children went into the big pool. This gave them an idea what it is like to be in deep water.
Thanks to Mr Bets who got in the pool to help out!

Morning Action Stations
One of the stations this week during action stations is practicing fine motor and pincer grip skills.
The children are enjoying covering the patterns with glass beads.
The coloured rice has inspired so much imaginative play, sharing, oral language, and problem solving. It has been fabulous watching and joining in with the children as they play and experience.

Action Stations before school
Beginning the day with a range of stations to choose from is a fabulous way for children to settle gently into their day.
Our doors are open from 8:30 am and once children have unpacked their bags and organised their sandwich and snack into their trays they are able to choose from a range of activities.
These activities support children with social skills, fine and gross motor skills as well as foundation literacy skills.
It is lovely to see parents sharing this time with their children. You are always welcome to stay and work with your child.

Library Visit
We visit our lovely school library weekly on Thursday afternoons. I'm sure this is one of the best times to go, as the sun streams in the windows.
Check out these photos of Room 2 children relaxing and reading books.

Room 1 and 2 added an extra trailer to their truck this week.
Such a fun way to practice different locomotor skills.
